CD's Being Removed from cars.

The compact disk player has begun it's long downward spiral for the past couple of years. Things like thumb drives, ipods, and streaming technologies have taken the 2014 cars by storm. A few vehicles, the Cadillac, the Tesla Model S, and the Smart car, are a few companys that have decided to ditch the bulky box slot.

CD slots are being taken as options for new cars, and are where we usually hide tissues and parking meter change. If you order the optional CD in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, or the Cadillac with the CUE system, it loses its prominent position on the dash and gets banished to the armrest or glove compartment.
The Mazda3 slot is moved way down to the center console level.

Of course we know why it's obvious, mountains of CD's accumulated over the years by owners who don't want to see their collection sent to the electric trash bin. Ipods and smartphones are evenly tied with CD players in usage. They are already using the space it occupies for larger center stacked screens. The future is here, and we aren't slowing down.
